Submit Comments to CMS on the Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently released its Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule for the calendar year 2021. The rule would result in a reduction in reimbursements for a number of providers, including CRNAs.
CMS’ proposal fails to remove any barriers to CRNA practice and would allow all APRNs – except CRNAs – to supervise diagnostic tests. This decision disproportionately affects CRNAs who provide opioid-sparing interventional pain management services that help to curb the nation’s ongoing opioid epidemic.
The proposed rule is open for public comment for 60-days before it will be made final. Please submit a comment to CMS today requesting that these issues be resolved so that patient access to safe, cost-effective health care is not jeopardized.
